Train Where Clientes Reales Walk Through the Door Every Day
At Tribeca Barber & Beauty School, you don’t practice on mannequins. From your first weeks, you work on real people, building the speed, confidence, and instincts that actually get you hired — and keep you employed.
A School Built on Real Work, Not Theory
Most beauty school graduates leave with a certificate and a gap — the uncomfortable distance between textbook knowledge and the fast-paced, client-first reality of a working barbershop or salon. Tribeca Barber & Beauty School was founded in 2004 with one guiding belief: the best way to learn this craft is to actually do it, on real people, every single day.
Over 85% of your training hours at Tribeca are spent working on real clients — not watching, not practicing on mannequins, but actually cutting, styling, and building your portfolio from week one.
Our 6,000 sq ft campus in Rego Park, Queens, operates as a functioning salon open to the public. That means while you’re learning, genuine clients are walking through our doors — people with different hair types, style preferences, and grooming needs. By the time you graduate, you won’t just know the theory. You’ll have hundreds of real haircuts under your belt, a diverse client portfolio, and the professional instincts that only come from working under real-world conditions.
We’ve been doing this for over two decades, graduating thousands of licensed barbers and cosmetologists who are working in salons, running their own businesses, and building careers across New York City and beyond. That track record is not an accident — it is the direct result of our commitment to hands-on, live-client training from the very first week of your program.
What Sets Tribeca Apart from Every Other NYC Barber School
Not marketing promises — real, concrete advantages that affect your training, your license timeline, and your career outcome.
Real Clients. Real Hair. From Week One.
This is the single biggest difference between a Tribeca education and schools that rely on mannequins. Our campus operates as a live, public-facing salon — real clients book haircuts with our students every day. From the first weeks of your program, you are working on actual people: different hair textures, different styles, different requests. That repeated live experience is what builds the speed, adaptability, and client communication skills that hiring managers specifically look for. By graduation, you have a client portfolio that speaks for itself.
20+ Years of Proven Results
Tribeca Barber & Beauty School has been licensed by the New York State Department of Education and actively graduating licensed professionals since 2004. That’s more than two decades of curriculum refinement, instructor experience, and alumni success stories. When you enroll here, you’re not a beta test — you’re joining a proven track record. Our programs have evolved alongside industry trends, NY State licensing requirements, and the real-world demands of the New York beauty market.
Both Barbering & Cosmetology — Under One Roof
Tribeca offers complete programs in both departments: the Master Barber Program (510 hrs), the Express Barber Program (360 hrs), a full Cosmetology Program (1,000 hrs), and a Hair Extensions workshop — all at our single Rego Park campus. This breadth matters for two reasons. First, if your interests evolve, your options don’t disappear. Second, our cosmetology and barbering students share a campus, which creates a richer professional environment that mirrors how real salons operate — with specialists across disciplines working side by side.
Flexible Schedules That Fit Real Life
We offer morning, afternoon, and weekend class schedules for all programs — so you can keep your job, your family commitments, and your life while you earn your license. Full-time morning and afternoon tracks complete the Master Barber Program in 17 weeks. The weekend part-time track takes 26 weeks. New cohorts begin on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, so you’re never waiting months to start. That enrollment frequency is rare among NYC barber and cosmetology schools and a meaningful practical advantage for anyone ready to begin now.
$200/Week Payment Plan — No Lump Sum Required
Our complete Master Barber Program costs $4,500 — one of the most competitive tuition rates for a full 510-hour NYS-approved program in New York City. But more importantly, you never have to pay it all at once. Enroll with a $500 down payment and pay just $200 per week for the duration of your program. You pay as you learn, in manageable increments, with no interest and no surprise fees. Our Cosmetology Program follows the same model: $8,000 total, $1,200 down, $200 per week. Straightforward. Transparent. Affordable.
Multilingual Instruction — English, Spanish & Russian
New York City is one of the most linguistically diverse places on earth, and our school reflects that. Our instructors teach in English, Spanish, and Russian — a rare and genuine advantage for the tens of thousands of Spanish-speaking and Russian-speaking New Yorkers who want to build a career in barbering or cosmetology but may not be fully comfortable in a purely English-language learning environment. You’ll learn better when you fully understand your instructor. That’s not a footnote — it’s a core part of how we think about teaching.
Full NYS Licensing Exam Preparation
Our curriculum is built specifically around the requirements of the New York State Barber Operator Exam and the NY State Cosmetology Board Examination. You’re not just training to cut hair — you’re training to pass the test that licenses you. Theory classes, practice boards, and instructor-led exam reviews are woven throughout the program. NY State Board Examinations are held at our school twice a month, which means your exam is at the same place you trained — familiar, comfortable, and convenient.
Career Support & Job Placement Assistance
Graduating with a license is the beginning, not the end. Our Career Center provides resume building, interview preparation, and active job placement assistance to help you land your first position — or your next one. Our alumni work at barbershops and salons across the five boroughs and beyond, and several have gone on to open their own businesses: Fifth Ave Barber Shop, Deluxe Cuts Barbershop, 12 Pell, Liv’s Barbershop, and more. That alumni network is an ongoing resource, and it grows with every graduating class.
Small Focus Groups & Personalized Attention
All classes at Tribeca are held in small, focused groups — not large lecture-hall cohorts where you wait your turn at the back. Smaller class sizes mean more one-on-one time with instructors, faster skill development, and the kind of direct feedback that actually changes how you work. In a craft where technique is everything, the difference between learning a fade from a video and having an experienced instructor correct your hand position in real time is the difference between good and great. Our class size model is a deliberate choice, not a capacity limitation.
Free Parking + Queens Location — Built for New Yorkers
Our campus is in Rego Park, Queens — a central, accessible location for students from across the borough and from neighboring areas of Brooklyn, Long Island, and the Bronx. Unlike Midtown Manhattan schools where commuting and parking add cost and stress to your daily routine, our campus has free parking available on-site. Queens is also home to one of New York’s most diverse and growing beauty markets, meaning the community you train in is the community you’re most likely to serve professionally.
